Tigers baseball came into the postseason with 9 wins to 17 losses, but the beautiful thing about postseason sports is you toss that record out the window, and the Tigers were able to power through to advance to Iowa City next week. The appearance will be the third straight trip to state for the Tigers.
ADM was able to get eight hits with the eight runs while taking advantage of seven Boone errors on the night. ADM was able to take advantage of three Boone errors in the top of the first to get an early 2-0 lead, but Boone was able to return the favor taking advantage of a pair of ADM errors in the bottom of the frame to take a 3-2 lead. After Boone tallied another run in the third, ADM was able to get four in the fourth inning, as the Tigers were able to get four straight runners to begin the inning, with all four able to score thanks to station to station baseball from the Tigers as well as a couple of more Boone errors.
Sophomore Luke Greth was terrific in his outing, pitching six strong innings giving up seven hits, one earned run and four strikeouts, with the most important thing keeping the Tigers in the game throughout the night.
ADM was able to put up 27 runs in their three game run, which is the highest output in a three game stretch that the Tigers have had all season long. After losing the first two in the season series, ADM was able to pick up just their second win against Boone since 2014.
The Tigers will await their first round matchup, knowing that they will be playing sometime next Wednesday in the 3A state tournament in Iowa City.
