A popular trail that runs throughout the Raccoon Valley Radio-listening area is one of three rail-trails to be nominated for a special recognition.

The Raccoon River Valley Trail has been nominated for the Hall of Fame of the Rail-to-Trails Conservancy. The selection will be decided through a public vote which will take place from July 30th through August 6th.

Voting will be done on the Raccoon River Valley Trail Association and Dallas County Conservation Board Facebook pages. Nominees are selected based on merits such as scenic value, high use, trail and trailside amenities and historical significance among other things.

The Raccoon River Valley Trail, which first opened in 1989, is the longest paved loop in the nation at 89 miles and connects 14 communities in Dallas, Greene and Guthrie counties.
