Perry visits Greene County tonight at Linduska Field in Jefferson. It’s the 91st “Battle for the Cowbell” with the winner possessing an actual cowbell donated to the series in 1928 by the Rotary Clubs of Jefferson and Perry. The Rams hold a 59-29-2 advantage since the Cowbell was introduced. The series actually dates back to 1898 when the Perry YMCA team defeated Jefferson High School.
Both teams enter the game with 0-1 records after Perry to at home to Ogden 33-0 in week one and the Rams fell in their opener to ACGC in overtime 29-27 in overtime. It’s Kid’s Cancer Night and prior to the game, 7-year old Averill Shaahan, the Kid Captain, will walk out onto midfield for the coin toss with the team Captains.
