The Iowa State Patrol reports three violations of people not stopping for buses following within a Guthrie County school district.
Iowa State Patrol District 4 Resource Officer Shelby McCreedy reminds motorists that they must stop a minimum 15 feet from behind and approach a school bus with red lights activated. McCreedy explains these penalties are not light.
“The fines vary from $345 to $945 pending on the situation and the DOT (Department of Transportation) will suspend your license for 30 days.”
McCreedy says most buses have video capabilities which makes the job of finding the vehicle that violated the bussing law a lot easier.
