An ongoing project involving a historical building in Dallas County has recently been completed.
The Dallas County Board of Supervisors approved a Carriage House Restoration project, which cost approximately $141,130, earlier this year and Supervisor Mark Hanson says the project has recently been completed for the building located on the Health and Human Services Campus.
“It’s original brick construction and it had new support structures put in, a new roof, tuck pointing on the brick, flashing around the chimneys, the original plank flooring was taken out and redone, the cement work on the approach has also been redone. All three doors and the original entry door has been completed. So, the project is now complete.”
Hanson tells Raccoon Valley Radio the project needed to be completed and Hanson explains the reason for the project.
“It was a project that needed to be done, the birds were getting in there and weather was starting to get in there. It really is a preservation of the original poor farm building that is still there, so glad to get that done.”
The Dallas County Board of Supervisors approved the contract with The Samuels Group for the Carriage House restoration project at their regular meeting on June 23rd.
