
An investigation into a suspicious fire in Grand Junction was recently completed.
Greene County Sheriff and Fire Investigator Jack Williams tells Raccoon Valley Radio the cause of the suspicious fire on July 4th of the former grocery store at 301 East Main Street is undetermined. He says they couldn’t find a cause due to the damage from the fire and no clear evidence after reviewing surveillance video from nearby properties. Williams adds there will be no further investigation.
Ten fire departments responded to the blaze at 5:36am Sunday, July 4th. Within about two hours, the building was completely burned to the ground. According to the Greene County Assessor’s real estate website, the property is owned by Michael Halligan.
The Grand Junction, Jefferson, Rippey, Churdan, Paton, Ogden, Scranton, Boone, Perry, and Bouton fire departments, along with Greene County Ambulance, Grand Junction Rescue and the Greene County Sheriff’s Office assisted at the scene.
