Friday, December 17th

4:02am: Mindy Durlam of Jefferson reported smelling smoke near the 400 block of Sundown Court. The Officer followed the smoke to the 900 block of North Pinet Street. The Officer spoke with Ryan Brown of Jefferson who was supervising the fire.

11:11am: Larry Jackson of Jefferson reported he had struck a deer with his vehicle on South Elm Street near the intersection with West Russell Street. The Officer’s investigation found a black “2015” Chevrolet Sonic driven by Jackson had been southbound on South Elm Street near the intersection with West Russell Street. A deer came from the east into the roadway and collided with the front driver side of the vehicle causing approximately $2500 worth of damage.

12:15pm: The Jefferson Fire Department was dispatched to the 100 block of North Cedar Street for a fire in a residence. The Jefferson Officer also responded to assist as needed.

3:52pm: An Officer was dispatched to the 700 block of West South Street for a dispute between neighbors. The Officer helped mediate the dispute.

4:16pm: Bruce Binkley of Jefferson requested extra patrol near a property he owned in the 300 block of North Chestnut Street. The Officer advised the extra patrol would be provided.

7:28pm: An Officer conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of 220th Street and Oakland Ave. As a result of the traffic stop, Cody Edward Narron of Independence, MO, was issued a citation for “Excessive Speed”

9:14pm: Cassie Fowler of Jefferson requested an Officer check on the welfare of a friend who may have been involved in a dispute with her boyfriend. The Officer performed the check and investigated the report.

Saturday, December 18th

6:01am: An Officer performed a traffic stop in the 700 block of North Elm Street. As a result of the traffic stop, Jenny Fisher of Churdan was issued a citation for “Excessive Speed.”

6:33am: An Officer performed a traffic stop near North Elm and 250th Street. As a result of the traffic stop, Kelly Kasper of Des Moines was issued a citation for “Excessive Speed.”

8:56am: An Officer preformed a traffic stop near the intersection of North Elm Street and 220th Street. As a result of the traffic stop, Bret Hildebrand of Ralston was issued a citation for “Fail to Obey Stop Sign.”

11:28am: While on patrol, an Officer located a vehicle having mechanical issues in the 100 block of Ram Drive. The Officer assisted the motorist.

12:01pm: Valerie Levy of Jefferson reported harassment and suspected trespassing in the 700 block of North Cedar Street. The Officer investigated. As a result of the investigation Jared O’Hara of Des Moines was charged with “Harassment in the 3rd Degree – Simple Misdemeanor”

4:30pm: Stephanie Wiskus of Jefferson reported a stray dog running loose in the 900 block of West State Street. The Officer checked the area and did not locate the dog.

5:08pm: An Officer was dispatched to 401 East Central Street for a commercial burglary alarm activation. The Officer investigated and found the alarm had been accidental.

5:59pm: An Officer performed a traffic stop in the 600 block of West Lincolnway. As a result of the traffic stop, Marlene Anderson of Ralston was placed under arrest for “Driving While Barred” “Operating a Motor Vehicle without Interlock Device” “Fail to Provide Proof of Financial Liability”

7:07pm: The Greene County Ambulance was dispatched to the 200 block of South Maple. An Officer responded and assisted.

7:34pm: Tyler Rysavy of Jefferson reported a dispute between himself and his wife. The Officers responded and mediated the dispute.

Sunday, December 19th

2:24am: Jeremy Kuehl of Jefferson reported a reckless driver white SUV approaching Jefferson on 220th Street from the west. The Officer responded to the area and performed a traffic stop on the suspect vehicle. As a result of the traffic stop, Macie Tish of Stuart was issued citations for “Fail to Provide Proof of Financial Liability” and “No Valid Driver License”

4:31am: Rick Scheuermann of Jefferson reported a suspicious vehicle in the 1000 block of McDuffie Drive. The vehicle was described as a black ford truck with a loud exhaust. The Officer looked for the vehicle and did not locate it.

12:35pm: Gentry Lowe of Jefferson reported a situation involving harassment and trespassing. The Officer is investigating.

Monday, December 20th

1:20am: During Business Checks, an officer located an Open Door at 300 North Elm Street. The officer secured the business after speaking to a key holder.

2:26am: An officer spoke to a subject loading items into his vehicle at the storage units at 408 Hwy. 30 East. The subject was the renter of the unit, and all was fine.

6:59am: A Traffic Stop at Reed and Elm Streets resulted in Tyler Armstrong of Jefferson being cited for, “Driving While Suspended.”

10:21am: Oly’s Corner reported a vehicle left without paying for $52.33 in fuel. The officer located the subject at his residence, and he advised he would go pay the bill.

11:21am: An officer investigated a Backing Accident in the parking lot at 1000 West Adams Street. A 2006 Chrysler Town & Country Van, owned and operated by Wendi Smits of Jefferson, was travelling north in the lot. A 2006 Dodge Grand Caravan, owned and operated by Nancy Halterman of Grand Junction was backing from a parking spot and the vehicles collided. Both units had a reported $2000.00 each.

8:55pm: Carl Behne reported a male at 106 West Washington Street, who was outside and not dressed for the weather. He was asking customers for a cigarette lighter. The officer arrived and made contact with the male subject, who appeared to be struggling with mental health. The officer gave the subject a ride to the lobby of the jail, until a ride home to Des Moines could be arranged.
