The West Central Valley School Board recently approved making improvements to their sports complex.

Superintendent Rusty Shockley says the board approved installing a new irrigation system for $31,395 for the baseball and softball fields that would operate in the outfield grass. Shockley explains that these improvements needed to be done to continue to have nice and operational fields.

You know, when we get towards the end of the season with the number of games that are played on the field, they get to the point where the grass is dead or dying. The look of them isn’t good, so we’re just trying to make them more playable and give our facility. We have a beautiful facility. It’s one of the last things that will kind of finish out that facility.”

Shockley states this project would update the current irrigation system for the baseball field and would create a new system for the softball field. He adds that this project will be funded with the Safe School Against Education funds and he anticipates the project to be done by early this spring.
