ADMOne high school in Dallas County is taking part in a new test that will help see how Iowa students rank among their peers from all over the world.

Adel DeSoto Minburn is one of six high-achieving high schools in the state selected to participate in the international test of science, mathematics, and reading.  ADM was chosen based on aggregate ACT test scores, size and geography.

Governor Terry Branstad’s Science Technology Engineering and Math (or STEM) Advisory Council is partnering with the schools to get a global benchmark of where Iowa stands compared to students in more than 65 countries worldwide.

Students from Minnesota, Illinois and Tennessee will also participate in the project, which is being funded by the Kern Family Foundation and Innovate + Educate.

The exam is produced by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development and will test the critical thinking and contextual problem solving of 15 year-olds.

Tests will be completed this spring and the results will be reported once tabulated.
