Even with the seasons changing and warmer weather on the horizon, jobs can make it difficult for people to remain active.

Dallas County Health Department Community Health Administrator Abigail Chihak says adults are recommended to get 30 minutes of activity each day. Chihak says while it can be difficult to get the recommended amount of activity while at work there are still ways it can be done.

“Sometimes it can be really difficult to carve out time for physical activity. Adults are recommended to get about 30 minutes of activity each day but that doesn’t have to be all at once. By taking a five minute break to stretch after sitting at the computer for a while or walking ten minutes on your lunch break, taking the long way to walk to the copy machine or choosing to take the stairs you can gradually reach your physical activity goals throughout the day.”

Chihak tells Raccoon Valley Radio you can also ask your coworkers to join in with your physical activity or you can move a sit down meeting to a walking meeting and complete your work while also meeting physical activity goals.
