Greene County High School soccer girls were in Logan on a cold and windy Monday night vs. the Logan-Magnolia Panthers. Lo-Ma won 4-1 to improve to 3-4 this season while Rams fell to 0-5. Greene County entered the contest without a goal this season, so Coach Maribel Hernandez was happy the Rams got on the scoreboard on a Katrina Heupel free kick after a L0-Ma player touched the ball with a hand. Heupel also took all three corner kicks attempted by the Rams.
The coach certainly saw improvement from the team and was pleased how the Rams were pressuring the Panthers. Madison Kinsey had 13 saves and right back Emma Shipley recorded a save. “We had a sense of improvement with our first goal and by having more than one corner kick.”
The Rams remain on the road tonight at Perry to open Heart of Iowa Activities Conference play.
