
DCG Mustangs girls soccer was on a mission on Thursday night to return to the state tournament in Des Moines against Carlisle, and the top overall team in 2A wasted little time in their game, putting up an 8-2 win to return to state. The Mustangs stay undefeated on the year at 19-0, as they were able to put up a strong performance again.
Avery Korsching was able to put together another three goal night, bringing the single season school goals record in the process. Kylie Knief was able to put up two goals on the night, and Alexia Henrichs puts up two goals as well. Ella Forsyth was able to put up a goal as well in the decisive victory.
Both of the goals for Carlisle came late in the second half, tying the season high of amount DCG has given up in a game. DCG has only given up nine goals in the entire season through 19 games.
For DCG, they return to state after getting a runner up appearance in 2021. They will be a favorite for the state championship with hopes of completing a state championship. The Mustangs will be playing against the North Polk Comets in the quarterfinals of the state tournament in Des Moines on Tuesday.
