
Greene County softball continued its upswing as the Rams won a Heart of Iowa Activities Conference contest in Nevada on Wednesday night. The Rams won 5-3, scoring a single run in the first inning and four in the second. All three Nevada runs were unearned and all were scored in the sixth inning. Coach Tom Kennedy’s team has won four of their last five and now stands at 5-6 overall and 3-4 in the conference. The Cubs fell to 5-3 and 2-3.
Winning pitcher Emma Hoyle had six strikeouts walked only three batters, and allowed just three singles. At the plate, Hoyle doubled for the only extra base hit of the game and she drove in a run. Chanlyn Cunningham singled two times and drove in a run, and Olivia Shannon had a pair of base hits. Alexa Peters singled and had one RBI and Grace Hardaway recorded a base hit.
The contest was cleanly played with the Rams being charged with only error of the contest.
Saydel visits Greene County in Jefferson tomorrow night on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com. The Eagles are unbeaten with Greene County opening the season with a 3-2 loss to Saydel in Des Moines.
