Jayettes Go 0-2 in Opening Day at Roland Story Invite

Perry dropped a pair of tight softball games Friday afternoon during the opening round of the 2022 Kiwanis Tournament Roland Story Tournament.  Raccoon River conference member Gilbert defeated Perry 11-8 in the first game while Benton rallied to beat the Jayettes in the second round 8-3.  Callie Steva led the Perry offense against the Tigers finishing with 3 RBI’s and a pair of hits.  Maci Tunink surrendered 10 earned runs over six innings.  Perry finished with an impressive 14 hits.

In Game two, Perry scored three times late but it wasn’t enough as Benton held on for the 8-3 win.  Lydia Olejniczak pitched five innings allowing only four earned runs off of just four hits.  Emmalee Bell had two of Perry’s 5 hits.

The Jayettes fall to 7-9 on the season and will return to action Saturday at Roland Story.
