With the conclusion of the 2022 season for the Panorama Panthers Softball team, there are plenty of highlights to look back on from the long season.
One doesn’t have to look too far back into the season to see one of the highlights of the year as the Panthers girls were entering into regional competitions for the 2022 season. The Panthers matched up against a familiar opponent in the AC/GC Chargers for the right to move on to the next round. The Panthers had previously played the Chargers in a double header where they dropped both games by scores of 7-3 and 15-14.
Moving into the the Class 2A Region 4 first round against the Chargers the Panthers came out swinging in Guthrie Center to the tune of two hits from Bridgette Ewing and three RBIs from Grace Webner. The Panthers collected 11 runs on 9 hits and were victorious over the Chargers by a final score of 11-9 which sent Chargers Softball home.
Another highlight moment came earlier in the season when the Panthers girls found themselves in a close battle against fellow West Central Activities Conference opponent Madrid. With two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning Jazmyn Sellers was at the plate down two runs 12-10 and was down in the count 1-2. With bases loaded Jazmyn sent a pitch over the left field fence to clear the bases and send four runs home giving the Panthers girls the 14-12 walk off win in the bottom of the seventh inning.
The Panthers also had plenty of other positives throughout the season including honoring their lone senior in Grace Webner on Senior Night as well as the Strikeout Cancer Night which also honored Webner for her fight against Stage III Hodgkin’s Lymphoma that she won and went on to finish her career on the softball field for Panorama.
Through a long season the Panthers Softball Team had plenty of highlights throughout the 2022 year and these are just a few while the Panthers will return next season in 2023 and make more highlights.
