Dallas Center – Grimes softball will be taking on Little Hawkeye Conference foe Indianola in the first round of the 4A state tournament next week.

Both of these familiar rivals meet three times during the season, with DCG winning all three games 7-3, 8-6, and 6-5. DCG was able to get two of those wins after trailing during the contest. This has been a very back and forth series, with DCG leading the matchup 12-10 since 2010.

Reese Burke and Elle Nelsen were both able to hit home runs during their matchups this year. Camila Rodriguez was able to grab two wins in the pitching circle, and Aubrey Johansen picking up a win as well.

DCG is making their 11th state tournament appearance and Indianola their 10th. DCG has three state championships winning three consecutive times from 2013-15 in 4A. Indianola has one which occurred in 4A back in 2012.

First pitch on Monday will be happening at 5:30 at the Iowa Central Field in Fort Dodge. KDLS Radio will have live play-by-play coverage.
