The Perry Public Library is an intriguing resource for both young and old and there’s one program that is currently underway for the very young.

Wee Wonders is for babies and caregivers on Thursdays from 10:15am until 11am exploring early literacy skills designed utilizing books, music, rhymes, and play promoting learning development with each registered baby receiving a board book every week. Get Buggy About Books with Toddler Time for two and three year olds on Tuesdays as well as Fun for Fours & Fives is reoccurring Wednesdays also both from 10:15am until 11am including crafts, games, songs, and stories with registration, then Family Storytime at 10:15am requires no registration meets in English on the 1st and 3rd Saturday and in Spanish on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays.

Children Librarian Suzanne Kestel describes what their goals are with this program.

“We want to get them used to the idea of coming to the library, picking out a book and getting to take that home and knowing that that’s going to be read to them by a parent or by an older brother or sister. So it’s that habit of getting, you know, getting into reading, coming to the library, getting to know the  staff and the programming and things we have. And if parents are reading themselves, those children are saying, ‘Oh , it must be important cause mom and dad are reading also.’ So yeah, it’s important and we enjoy seeing the children at the library.”

Kestel adds as a bonus everyone who visits the library enjoys feeding the Library Mascot, Pico De Gallo, the box turtle.
