A Greene County Youth wrestler is highly ranked nationally as the 5th/6th grade boys season begins. Johnathan Thompson wrestles for Sebolt Wrestling Academy in Jefferson. Rofkin.com had this to say about the youngster, “Johnathan Thompson of Sebolt is a favorite in the 67 lbs. weight class and heads into the 2022-23 season with a notable 37-3 record. He is the 2022 AAU State Champion, a 2022 Iowa/USA Triple Crown winner, 2022 Folkstyle National Champion, and placed fourth at Preseason Nationals in 2021.”

Sebolt is where current Greene County seniors both train. McKinley Robbins recently committed to attend and wrestle at Oregon State University and Kale Petersen is also a DI recruit, who told Raccoon Valley Radio he expects to make a college choice prior to the high school season starting in about a month.
