The latest edition of the Perry and Greene County high school sports rivalry is tonight in the high school gym in Jefferson. The Rams host the Jayettes and Blue Jays in Heart of Iowa Activities Conference basketball with the girls’ game at 6 o’clock and the boys to follow.
Perry is 2-4 on the girls’ side and they’ll be trying to stop a four game skid, all in conference play. The Greene County girls are 0-6 and will be trying to get in the win column for the first time this season.
Both boys’ teams are coming off victories on Tuesday of this week. The Blue Jays scored a season high 72 points and went eight of 11 from three-point range in a home win vs. PCM (Monroe). The Rams also reached a season high in points with Tuesday’s 68-44 victory at State Center vs. West Marshall. Senior Richard Daugherty had 27 points to lead the Rams with 20 in the third quarter alone.
Coverage tonight on KG98 and streaming on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com starts on 5:45 p.m. The Perry perspective can be heard on 1310 KDLS.
