The Greene County Historical Society recently held its annual meeting for 2022-23 earlier this month.

The organization elected its board officers for 2023 and those include Nick Foster as president, Jeg Magee as secretary, Denise Harberts and Dianne Piepel as treasurers, David John is past president, and program chair continues to be Margaret Hamilton.

The slate of programs begins next month with the first of five special Sundays on January 15th with the Story of Immigration in Greene County with presenter Chuck Offenburger. The regular monthly programs start in May at the Churdan Library on May 5th with “Indigenous Greene Countians” with speaker Mary Weaver. The organization says these programs are designed to advance the knowledge of Greene County and Iowa history.

The Greene County Historical Society is always looking for more members. An individual membership is $15, a family is $20 and to be a Friend of the Greene County Historical Society is $50. Contact any board officer or member to learn more about being a member.
