The Sierra Community Theater in Jefferson invites everyone to the return of a popular event.

Board President Mike Piepel says Classics Movie Week is back after taking the previous three years off due to the pandemic. This year’s movies are from 1959 with a free showing of “North by Northwest” directed by Alfred Hitchcock tomorrow and Saturday at 7pm. Piepel says this is a criminal/thriller movie starring Cary Grant. Then on Sunday, Piepel says there will be a special event featuring Templeton Rye Distillery giving free whiskey tastings starting at 6pm, ahead of the documentary about the beginning of their business “Whiskey Cookers.”

“They’ve even said, ‘We’re going to bring up Keith Kerkhoff, the grandson of Alphonse Kerkhoff, the original maker of Templeton Rye back in the 1920s and the 1930s. And he’ll be glad to give us some inside stories or answer any questions the audience may have. So I’m really looking forward to that. This is a real, real treat for us.”

Piepel adds Classics Week ends next Wednesday and Thursday with another free showing of “Some Like It Hot” from 1959 starring Marylin Monroe. All three films include free admission and concession items will be available for purchase.
