The Dallas Center-Grimes boy basketball team broke a school record from the charity stripe this year.
They shot 233/313 from the free throw line for a percentage of 73-percent and the previous record was 68-percent set by the 2020-21 team. Senior Hudson Ehlert also broke the school record for the best individual free throw shooting percentage with 63 made attempts for 84-percent.
Coach Joel Rankin discusses the significance of this achievement.
“When you have a young man who gets fouled and you know that he’s going to go up to the line and knock him down, it’s a good feeling. And, you know, Hudson was, you know, pretty good, you know, throughout the year at the charity stripe. And he ended up breaking a school record for percentage. The way we’ve done it is you have to have 50 attempts and he’s he had I think it was 63 for 75.”
The Mustangs had three foul line shooters make over 80-percent from the line including Tate Perrin, Hudson Ehlert and Jonathan Howard.
