As the largest employer in Greene County, the Greene County Medical Center thanks all of its volunteers during National Volunteer Week.
The Greene County Medical Center Auxiliary is made up of 72 active and 35 lifetime volunteers and Foundation Director Nancy Houska says they recently donated funds to purchase a new weight and a rowing machine for the pulmonary/cardiac rehabilitation department. She adds that the Auxiliary has helped raise over $600,000 for the medical center for 61 years.
The medical center also thanks its volunteer Senior Health Insurance Information Program counselor Mary Tighe. Since 2012, Tighe has helped Medicare beneficiaries with questions and concerns about Medicare and she’s worked to promote SHIIP throughout the county. Finally, the medical center and Greene County Public Health thank the RSVP 55+ Volunteer Program for their continued efforts of helping the elderly population in the county.
