The Jefferson City Council met Tuesday night in regular session.
The Council approved two and tabled one development agreement for downtown area businesses. The two ten year agreements that were approved included the VFW Hall for $80,000 to improve the exterior of the building and Meythaler Photography for $75,000 to replace the roof and do some tuckpointing. Both agreements will have a ten year forgivable loan with zero percent interest. The third agreement for Corner View Estates and Nikki Uebel for 100 and 102 North Wilson Avenue for $150,000 was tabled due to finalizing the details.
Next, the Council approved the first pay estimate to Tallgrass Land Stewardship of $65,969 for work completed in April on the front exterior entryway to City Hall and a grant application to the Iowa Department of Transportation for $262,500 for sitework, approaches and utilities for a future restroom for the 100-foot by 100-foot hangar at the municipal airport. This would cover 75-percent of the total cost of $350,000 with the rest as a local match from the airport commission.
The Council also approved an open records request policy and application form, as none exist currently, as well as approved a public event, Starting Block Party, to take place on May 19th from 4-7pm in the west downtown alleyway, Imagination Alley, while also serving hard cider from Deal’s Orchard.
