The Perry soccer team will take the heralded trip to the capitol city today as one of the best eight teams in the state of Iowa in Class 2A.  The 8th seeded Bluejays will take on defending state champion and top seed Davenport Assumption in a 1:00 quarterfinal battle this afternoon on Field 9 at the Cownie Complex.

Perry advanced to the school’s fifth state appearance following a 3-1 substate final win over Glenwood.  Assumption breezed through substate 5 with a 5-0 victory over Burlington Notre Dame in the final.  The Knights only loss this season was a 1-0 setback on May 8th at Pleasant Valley.

“I am so proud of our team,” stated Head Coach Gary Overla.  “We took a day off following the win over Glenwood and are just excited to get back to the state tournament.  We have put in the time and will be ready to go.”
