The Perry boys cross country team will regroup for Thursday’s meet at the Madrid Cross Country Invitational at Madrid High School. This is coming after their meet last week at Gowrie Municipal Golf Course got postponed due to the heat advisory that lasted the majority of last week. Madrid, Colo-Nesco, Woodward-Granger, Panorama, Woodward Academy, Coon-Rapids Bayard, and Ogden are among the teams that will be participating in the meet this week. I was able to sit down with head coach Tina Lutterman before their upcoming meet this week. She talked about the routine the team has done this week as they prepare for their first meet on Thursday.
“We’re running every day now. It’s similar to any sport when your meet or game gets cancelled because of weather. You have to stay focused, you got to stay hungry, and you got to be ready to compete when it’s your time. It’s tough. This is a tough tough sport because there is so much mental components to continuing to run when things are slower and things are tired and you’re busy and making the time for it. It’s all going to come together when they get the chance to compete next week at Madrid,” Lutterman said.
The gun will go off at 5 PM at Madrid High School on Thursday. I will have results of the meet right here on KDLS and raccoonvalleyradio.com.
