The Adel American Legion Auxiliary Post 464 is collecting donations to benefit a good cause.

The Adel ALA is gathering supplies, food and clothing to support the Des Moines Veterans Affair  Hospital and the Veterans Affair Community Resource and Referral Center. Adel ALA Post 464 President Shirley McAdon says that the hospital and CRRC are not allowed to use federal funds to supply veterans with basic needs. McAdon mentions that this fundraiser would take some of that burden away. 

“Our particular American Legion unit here in Adel has tried to assist the hospital and the CRC to provide some of those things that they can’t provide.

McAdon says their biggest needs are for clothing and toiletries such as mens sweatpants and shorts along with men’s shampoo, and deodorant. She says that they will take donations of large print used books, reading glasses, and individually wrapped snacks. She says donations can be placed in the Adel Legion Auxiliary drop-off box on 1305 S. 15th Street in Adel.
