The Paton-Churdan School District is off and running with a new year.
Principal Annie Smith tells Raccoon Valley Radio this year’s mantra is “Make every minute matter.”
“Academically we’re going to really give our kids those academic opportunities and really make sure that we are making them what they need to be. But then we also want to make sure that our families, and our students, and our staff also know that they also need to make just their moments matter. So what happens outside of school and what happens inside of school just to really make the most of the time that everybody has.”
Smith points out that P-C had zero teacher turnover from last year to this year.
“How amazing is that? So it’s definitely the first time in my time here (at P-C), it’s definitely the first in my time as an educator that we truly had no teacher turnover. That really provided just the unique experience to be able to jump right in. So we were able to take those things and the work that we did at the end of the year and just really just build upon that and just go from day one.”
Smith says the beginning of the year has been great so far seeing all of the students coming back into the building and she is looking forward to another successful year.
