Natural sound heard of engine starting…
That sound of engines revving and exhaust pipes rumbling could be heard all over downtown Stuart on Saturday night, as the town celebrated its first Scoop the Loop night of 2014.
In what turned out to be a perfect evening for residents to have fun in their town, event coordinator Bob Cook says he was thrilled with the turnout.
“The sidewalks are filled with community people enjoying themselves, bringing their kids out. We have entertainment and a fun night for all ages, there is street food available… this is what we wanted. People are having fun in their own community, enjoying themselves, and I hope it can continue.”
One of the highlights from Saturday’s event was the Salute to Wrestling in the Stuart Elementary gym. Tim O’Brien, a Stuart-Menlo state wrestling champ in 1989, was honored during the program, and he says Saturday was “a wonderful experience.”
“The same fans that came out and supported us were same fans 25 years ago that came out and congratulated us and helped us get (to a state title). It was a lot of fun sharing this experience with Chris Swalla and Dan McKee, the other two state champions.”
The next Scoop the Loop in Stuart will be held on July 12th. That program will be titled “Nerds on the Loop,” as Cook recognizes those who participated in the Science Fair of years past.
