Dallas Center-Grimes football will look to win two straight games when they get back on the gridiron tonight.

The Mustangs are riding high after a win over Fort Dodge by a score of 35 to 0 which improved their record to (1-2). In that game, the offense racked up a total 360 yards that includes 233 passing yards and 127 rushing yards. Senior Ty Mikkelsen passed for all 233 yards, four touchdowns and two interceptions. Senior running back Eli Carpenter ran for 116 yards on the ground and one touchdown while senior tight end Dayne Mauk led the team in receiving yards with 107 and three touchdowns.

Dallas Center-Grimes will have to shift their focus to another non-district opponent tonight. Ballard from Class 4a District 5, enter tonight’s matchup with a record of (1-2) which includes losses to Creston and Humboldt and a win over Pella (20-17). Ballard is led on offense by senior running back Eli Rouse who has carried the ball 75 times for 581 yards and five touchdowns on the season. Their defensive stopper is junior Jackson Wacha who has two sacks, three tackles for loss and 27.5 total tackles.

DCG Head Football Coach Scott Heitland says his program has a long history playing Ballard and he is very familiar with how their team operates.

“They look like they are fundamentally sound up front on both sides of the ball and they play A34 defense and they play it really well. They played it for years and they’ll execute really good. And so the thing impressed me on film was their ability to make some big plays. They’ve got some some kids who can hit some home runs when they get their hands on the ball and defensively they look like they run to the football really well.”

Dallas Center-Grimes has played Ballard 11 times in the last 15 years. Raccoon Valley Radio will broadcast the game live with pregame at 6:30 and kickoff starting at 7:30pm in Huxley from our mobile stream KDLS-2 which can be found at the link below.
