The Mary J Barnett Memorial Library has several events coming up in the month of October.
Library Director Jerri Hawkins says that they will have some fun Halloween themed story hours, starting with pumpkins on October 6th with a puffy paint pumpkin craft, then spooky themed on October 13th with a bat silhouette painting, a scary theme for October 20th along with monster donut craft, and Halloween on October 27th with a handprint ghost craft.
On October 10th, the library will host their Between the Covers Book Club meeting, with “The Silent Patient” by Alex Michaelides as the book of the month, and Hawkins tells Raccoon Valley Radio that they’ll continue a newer event on October 11th.
“Our Lunch and Learn this month is Lisa Calvert, CPA (Certified Public Accountant). She’s going to be talking about taxes, and answering Q and A’s on retirement and tax tips.”
Hawkins mentions that the Lunch and Learn will be from noon to 1pm, with a light lunch provided, and that those interested in attending need to register beforehand so they know how much food to have.
