
Coach Tori Ogden’s Greene County High School girls’ basketball team opened the 2023-24 season on Tuesday night with a 54-31 loss in Woodward vs. non-conference opponent Woodward-Granger. The contest was heard on KG98 and streamed on www.racccoonvalleyradio.com. The game was the second for the Hawks, who started their schedule last week with a 47-35 win at Collins-Maxwell.
On Tuesday night, the Rams tailed 29-12 at the half, where 22 of their 36 turnovers took place. The Rams shot 31 percent for the game and both the points and shooting percentage were well above what the team averaged a season ago. Junior Emma Shipley had 12 points including three of the Rams’ six three-point field goals. Kaycee Pittman, a sophomore, had a pair of three’s and her eight points were a career high. Junior Payton Kokenge added four points with three by Sara Morlan and two each from Alaina Heard and Ella Shipley. Heard and Morlan are freshmen and Shipley is a junior. W-G had nine players score points while the Rams only had seven players suited up for the contest. The Hawks were were led by sophomore Eva Fleshner with 11 points. The Hawks made seven three-point goals.
The Rams play in Ogden on Monday in the first girl/boy doubleheader on the season. Action starts at 6 p.m. on KG98 and streaming on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com.
