The Greene County Rams have reached the break for the Holidays after a fourth place finish at the 11 team Carroll Invitational Wrestling Tournament on Saturday. Freshman Jaron Jacobs at 106 lbs. and junior Brent Dennhardt at 165 won individual titles and three others finished in second place. Runners-up for the Rams were seniors Zeke Binkley (144) and Jackson Turner (150), along with junior Marcus Ball (215). The Rams only filled 10 of the 14 weight classes on Saturday and still finished in fourth place.
The break could allow for some healing time for several Rams. Three time State qualifier Gavin Scheurmann (157) did not wrestle at Carroll due to lingering knee issues. Juniors Gavyn Winters (ankle) at 120 lbs. and Jacob Harmeyer (labrum) at 126 lbs. also have been on the shelf lately.
Coach Kirk Davis and the Rams start the 2024 portion of the schedule earlier than originally planned. A Tuesday, Jan. 2 quadrangular was added to the Greene County schedule recently. The Rams will travel to Greenfield that day to face Lenox, Martensdale-St. Mary’s, and the host Nodaway Valley Wolverines.
