Several inches of snowfall has covered Iowa and travel is being impacted.

According to the Iowa Department of Transportation, almost 50 counties in the state are under a tow ban, including Greene, Guthrie and Dallas counties. This means conditions are too dangerous for tow services to be out retrieving vehicles that went off the roadway into the ditch.

According to the Iowa State University Iowa Environmental Mesonet, western Dallas County has seen between four and six inches of snowfall, with some local areas higher. Portions of Greene and Guthrie counties range between two and six inches of snowfall. The National Weather Service is reporting that less than one inch of snow will remain for the rest of today to fall in the Raccoon Valley Radio area. Motorists are to use caution if traveling on the roads this morning.

The National Weather Service is saying there will be high wind gusts throughout the day today, between 25 to 40 miles per hour. This means there will be blowing snow, which could cause white out conditions.
