A retirement party will be held later this week for a prestigious officer from the Adel Police Department.

There will be a retirement party for Adel Police Chief Gordy Shepherd this Friday from 10am-2pm at the Adel Community Room in the Adel City Library. Chief Shepherd has served on the force for 31 years with 27 committed to the Adel Police Department. Back on October 10th, the Adel City Council approved the appointment of Wade Book to become the new police chief. Book currently is a detective and lieutenant and will officially start his new position on Friday.
