A unique business conference will be held in Greenfield tomorrow and Tuesday.

Greenfield Chamber/Main Street has combined with Travel Iowa to host the SOAR Conference at the Warren Cultural Center. SOAR stands for sustaining operations, amenities and resources, as it pertains to small businesses.

Greenfield Chamber/Main Street Executive Director Stacy Hall encourages business owners from surrounding counties to show up and see what the conference has to offer.

“We have a great keynote speaker coming in, David Williamson.  He’s an artist that has created quite a name for himself–he’s very out of the box and very energetic so it’ll be a real treat for people to get to come and see him.  He’ll really help people kind of open up their mind, and (he’ll) make them think about ways to communicate and about different ways to promote themselves and their attraction or business.”

Hall says the main premise of the conference is to help area business owners draw in and welcome visitors that pass through their respective towns.

“We just wanted to bring some different sessions together that businesses and the travel industry could use that would help them have better operations, offer better amenities and teach them to better utilize resources that are available.  We just want to get as much out there to our local people in the region as we could so that we’re all great hosts when people come to town.”

There is a registration fee of $20 for the SOAR two-day conference.

Tomorrow’s session will run from 9am to 4:30pm, while Tuesday’s will be from 8am to noon.
