A federal agency has approved a request by Governor Kim Reynolds to sell E-15 year round, but it won’t be implemented this year.
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) ruled recently to allow for year round sales of E-15 gasoline, but to start next year in 2025. US Senator Chuck Grassley says the country has been fortunate that summer sales of E-15 blended fuel have been approved the last couple of years. However, since the EPA has given approval, the President still needs to approve it.
“We’re going to be joining a lot of other Republican and Democrat people from the Midwest, corn growing states and get the President to do it. Now the President doesn’t have to do it because we’re pressuring him to do it, but he’s done it twice in the last two years.”
Grassley adds he doesn’t know why it has taken since April of 2022 when Governor Reynolds and other surrounding states submitted their request for it to finally be approved by the EPA almost two years later.
