The Mary J Barnett Memorial Library is prepared for this month’s Lunch and Learn.

Library Director Jerri Hawkins says that the event is Wednesday starting at noon with a light lunch, followed by a presentation from Dementia Friends Iowa. She tells Raccoon Valley Radio why she wanted to have the group come in for their informational presentation.

“I just know of a few people that are struggling with that disease and or people that are struggling taking care of someone with that disease. And I just feel like it’s definitely always something that we can learn more about and know how to handle that situation, and hope to help them live longer at home, in their own homes, and to make it easier for the caretakers too.”

Hawkins mentions that the event is free and open to the public, though the library does ask that interested individuals contact them to let them know if they will attend, so that enough food can be prepared for lunch.
