Greene County goes to Manson and Paton-Churdan travels to Earlham for State Qualifying Track & Field Meets on Thursday, May 9. The Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union and Iowa High School Athletic Association released the assignments earlier this week.

The Rams are in Class 2A and they will send the girls and boys to Manson for a meet hosted by Manson-Northwest Webster. Others schools going to Manson are Washington High of Cherokee, East Sac County (Lake View), Forest City, Garner-Hayfield-Ventura, Hinton, KP-WC-RV (Moville), Lawton-Bronson, Ogden, Ridge View (Holstein), and South Central Calhoun (Lake City). In 2A, first and second place finishers in each event qualify for the May 16-17-18 State Meet at Drake Stadium in Des Moines, as do the eight best performances from all eight qualifying meets throughout the state that were not first or second.

At Earlham, P-C will face the host Cardinals, plus ACGC, Ankeny Christian, Audubon (boys only), Collins-Maxwell, Coon Rapids-Bayard, Glidden-Ralston, Grand View Christian (Des Moines), Melcher-Dallas, Orient-Macksburg, Panorama, St. Edmond (Ft. Dodge), Twin Cedars (Bussey), and Woodward Academy. Only the event champion in 1A automatically qualifies for State. The rest of the field is determined by the 12 best performances statewide on May 9 that did not finish first.
