A new business in Jefferson is looking to alleviate anyone’s musicianship to a professional level.

Art of Aries Co-Owner Tyler Gathercoal says they offer a wide range of services including audio and video production with music videos to recording songs, along with assisting with song writing, mixing and mastering songs, producing social media advertisements and teaching piano and drum lessons. He tells Raccoon Valley Radio that in 2019, the business first started in his home in Grand Junction, but he quickly found out that he wanted a more professional space to do higher quality work and he wanted to separate work from home. 

Gathercoal points out that once he decided to move to Jefferson, he needed to create a name for the business. He talks about his love of astronomy and the zodiac is what inspired coming up with Art of Aries Studio.

“Like I’m a Capicorn, I’m not an Aries. But (the) Greene County (School District) Rams, that’s an Aries. And so Art of Aries Studios is kind of like art of the community.    

Gathercoal describes an example of producing music videos with the promotional Barbie video of the Shuffle Couple, with Dan and Emily Rohner, to kick-off the Barbie By The Bells display.

“That was me, my crew coming up with it (and) the audio was all us. They came to us with an idea and what we did is we turned it into a professional promotional video for the 500 unopened Barbies at Sensibly Chic. The goal is to have people bring their ideas to us and us to make a high quality production of it.”

Art of Aries also produced award winning music videos with the band Through the Darkness that recently won two Iowa Motion Picture Awards, including Award of Achievement for Direction and Award of Excellence for Editing. Art of Aries also offers some accessories such as instrument cables, guitar picks and strings, among other items. Art of Aries is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10am-1pm and 3-7pm.
