The City of Perry is gearing up for an exciting event at the beginning of September revolving around football.

Perry was picked as the first location to host the RVTV Tailgate Kickoff on Monday, September 2nd in anticipation for the in-state rivalry football game between the Iowa Hawkeyes and Iowa State University Cyclones. Perry Chamber Director Lynsi Pasutti reveals that a grand entrance will happen around 11am to generate excitement, but the bulk of activities are taking place in the afternoon from 3-8pm. She says regardless whether you’re cheering for the Cyclones or Hawkeyes, this will be a way to celebrate the community.

“Its friendly competition. No one’s getting too bent out of shape on what side they’re on, but we can come together and celebrate that, because that’s just the fun part of it.”

Pasutti mentions that the day’s activities range from a car show, a cornhole tournament, a bingo tent, a foosball tournament, a car smashing demonstration, plenty of food, live music from the band Rukkus, and much more. In addition, Raccoon Valley Radio will be on site conducting a jeopardy game for participants.

Pasutti illustrates that traffic will be closed on 2nd Street between Otley Street and Lucinda Street, plus Willis Avenue from 1st Street to 3rd Street. Contact the Perry Chamber of Commerce for more information at (515)-465-4601.
