The Greene County Medical Center recently contracted a new pediatric physician for its pediatric coverage.
Dr. Cody Silker completed her pediatric residency at Blank Children’s Hospital in Des Moines and has her Doctor of Osteopathic degree from Des Moines University.
She will provide care for newborns while they are still at the hospital on a limited basis and the mothers are cared for by their OB/GYN or midwife. She practices at Guthrie County Hospital for their clinic days in Panora and Stuart.
The decision to contract with Silker came after McFarland Clinic decided to terminate its pediatric coverage contract with the medical center and gave them a 30-day window to find a replacement.
Vice-President of Medical Affairs Dr. Jon Van Der Veer says having Silker is a great asset and addition to the New Beginnings Birth Center at the hospital.
Silker started at the medical center on Monday, July 21st.
