Registration is now open for the Guthrie County Hospital Fitness Center’s 7th Annual “Heat the Streets” 5k run and walk in Guthrie Center.
The annual fundraiser and run will be held on Saturday morning, September 20th.
Fitness Coordinator Diane Duzenbury describes her expectations for this year’s event.
“We’re still shooting to have good weather–that’s been our problem the last few years though last year was beautiful. We’d love to get 100 people for this year’s 5k–that’s my goal.”
To try and generate a bigger crowd for “Heat the Streets” this year, Duzenbury says an activity has been added that should draw in some Guthrie County youth.
“We’re adding a Kids Run this year that will be at 8:30 that morning, with registration starting at 8am. We’ll do the Kids Run on the street right by our Fitness Center, and then we’ll have some activities for the kids inside while the parents go out and do either the 5k or 2k.”
The entry fee for this year’s “Heat the Streets” is just $15 if registrations are submitted prior to September 3rd. Registration after that date will cost participants $20.
