The days will now be shorter for the next four months.

Daylight Saving Time ended early this morning at 2am, when clocks moved back an hour. Perry Fire Chief Grason Hill stresses that smoke detectors should be operational at all times.

“Smoke detectors are what saves your life. They’re very important, it does no good for anyone to have their smoke detectors and it’s not active. A smoke detector has a high pitch sound that will normally always wake you up when you’re sound asleep.”

Electronic devices including smartphones and tablets should have features that automatically corrected the time, but stoves, microwaves, and car clocks will need to be manually fixed, if they haven’t been already. Given the time change, it will become lighter earlier, but the days will be shorter as the sun will set earlier in the evening. Daylight Saving Time will go until March 9th.
