Next week is the biggest event of the year for the Stuart Public Library Foundation.
Library Director Lisa Sherman says that the Foundation Auction will be on November 14th, beginning at 6pm. She tells Raccoon Valley Radio that it’s the biggest fundraiser for the Foundation, and she explains why they started the auction.
“The reason why the foundation (was) started, was because we didn’t have enough money in our city budget for books. And so we’ve been getting donations of books. We were getting them out of half price bookstores, garage sales, that kind of thing to help get some great materials for our patrons.”
Sherman mentions that with the funds raised at the auction, along with the other smaller events that the Foundation holds every year, the library is now able to purchase $1,500 worth of new books and materials every month.
