So far there has only been cold temperatures, but with winter approaching eventually snow will come too.

Guthrie County Engineer Josh Sebern is glad that there hasn’t been any significant snowfall yet, as it gives him and the Secondary Roads crews time to properly prepare their equipment for when it does finally snow. He tells Raccoon Valley Radio how they prepare for snow events.

“We have our snow plow trucks that we get equipped every year. The front plow, the wing, the sanders, and make sure that they’re in good operating condition and, you know, try and get ready to address any situations that may come up. In addition, we have a stockpile of salt on hand and the salt sand mixture that we’ll use to combat any icing or snowpack.”

Sebern mentions that when there isn’t significant snow fall throughout November, they begin really watching the weather starting around Thanksgiving to make sure that they are fully prepared.
