January 26th through the 31st is Catholic Schools Week and an educational institution in Perry is honoring it with fun events.

St. Patrick’s Catholic School Principal Kandice Pattillo tells Raccoon Valley Radio that the observance of the week is to recognize the importance of catholic schools. She highlights that this past Saturday, the school held its first trivia night as a way to bring the community together following last year’s school shooting at Perry High School, and that it was a tremendous event with many families showing up for a night of fun. Pattillo dives deeper on the impact catholic schools have on a community.

“I do think that it’s just a way for us to showcase how we support our kids and how our kids are amazing, our staff are amazing, we’re supported by an amazing community, and our perished too, so it’s just shouting about all of that stuff, but we do it every day anyways.”

Pattillo details that her favorite time is Vocation Day on Thursday because she gets to learn about the student’s dreams that they have for when they’re older. She describes that Monday honored students, Tuesday revolves around the community, Wednesday is celebrating the nation, Thursday is aforementioned Vocations Day, Friday is all about staff and volunteers, with Saturday as the time dedicated to families.
