After Governor Kim Reynolds signed an executive order to start an Iowa version of the Department of Government Efficiency, one Senator shares her thoughts.
Senator for District 12 Amy Sinclair says that even before the executive order, she agreed with the governor’s statement from her Condition of the State speech that, “Iowa was doing DOGE before it was cool.” Sinclair tells Raccoon Valley Radio that Iowa has already worked to streamline government agencies and make things more efficient and cost effective, and shares what the executive order would work to do.
“What she’s proposing, then, is to expand what we already did down to support those local government agencies in finding ways that they can streamline their own processes and services, finding places that red tape is making government more expensive, finding places that dollars are being spent on things that aren’t essential public services.”
Sinclair mentions that since Iowa reduced cabinet level government offices in the state, there has been roughly $200 million. She adds that she is also looking forward to the group forming and getting to work, and that she’s glad that the governor is invested in saving Iowa residents money.
