
The Guthrie Center City Council will meet in regular session Monday night.
The Council will first start with a public hearing regarding the proposed property tax levy for fiscal year 2025-26. They will then consider naming Tony Young as a fiscal year 2025 Nuisance Abatement Contractor, then hear from Cody Sheeder on Valley Cemetery, and Cory Martinsen on chickens.
The Council will also set a date and time for a public hearing regarding the fiscal year 2025-26 proposed budget, and consider for approval a letter of engagement for Professional Financial Management financial advisors. They will hear a department update from Compliance Officer Wes Clark, along with parking in right-of-way ordinance changes and discuss an accessory building ordinance.
The Council will also hear a department report from City Clerk Kris Arrasmith, and she along with Councilman Ian Steensen will lead a discussion on Iowa Code Chapter 657A regarding abandoned properties. The public hearing will begin at 6:30pm, with the meeting to follow at 6:45pm. The meeting will be held in Council Chambers at City Hall.
