bookmark-contest

In honor of National Library Week, the Youth Services Department at the Jefferson Library has a couple of contests.

Youth Services Librarian Bailey Mount says any youth that are four to 18 years old are encouraged to enter the bookmark design contest. She tells Raccoon Valley Radio there are a few age divisions, where each participant will receive a packet that includes three blank bookmarks that only one final design can be officially entered, along with rules and a practice paper. The contest ends this Saturday and Mount describes what the winners will get.

“The winners for each age group are actually going to have their design printed on card stock and laminated for them. And for patrons that come in you will actually get the opportunity to get a copy of this bookmark and take it home. We’ll be distributing it to patrons.”

Mount points out the other contest that lasts the entire month of April is a giveaway contest with the digital service Hoopla. She reminds everyone that Hoopla was announced at the start of 2025 that it is a free service with over 1 million titles to books, movies, songs, tv series and much more. Mount stresses that anyone with the Jefferson Library card can download the app and whoever actively uses it from January 1st to April 28th will be entered into a drawing for a new Amazon Fire Tablet. She emphasizes a contribution that the Friends of the Jefferson Library recently made with Hoopla.

“I’m very happy to report that the Friends have just agreed to fund more Hoopla borrows for all of our patrons. So really guys, get on the Hoopla train while you can, and if you come into the library and get on it right now, you could go home with a new tablet.”

Mount adds that there is going to be one winner in the Youth Department and one in the Adult Department.
